AD Sync - "The procedure seems to have been successful"

Problem

When performing a manual AD sync, the following message is returned:

The procedure seems to have been successful.. Proceeding to the Users List tab to double-check.....

Upon checking the Users list it seems no new users have been added.

Explanation & Solution

When this message is displayed it usually means that user capping is enabled to enforce the license limit, but the in app notifications or email is not enabled. When then AD Sync is triggered, it detects the license breach and fails silently.

You can do either of the following:

  • Add more licenses
  • Remove user capping
  • Add in app notifications for user capping for better diagnostics

Who can see the License page to check if user capping is enabled?

Only Administrators will be able to view the Licensing page.
