Easy-spam-disclaimer not being added

Situation Easy Spam Disclaimer missing from inbound email.
Solution The email address is whitelisted, the Mime construction is incorrect, or it is digitally signed with DKIM.

Some customers may notice that the Proofpoint Essentials Easy-spam-disclaimer footer is not added to some inbound emails, despite being enabled for the user/company in question.

The below scenarios exist where the footer will not appear on an inbound email, as listed below:

  1. An email address or domain that has been put on the Approve Sender List/Safe Sender List and skips spam filtering in the Proofpoint Essentials interface.
  2. The MIME construction in the email is incorrect and the disclaimer cannot be added.
  3. The email is digitally signed, using a technology such as Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM), and the disclaimer cannot be added.
  4. Message is larger than 1 MB.
  5. Stamp Stamp & Forward spam setting: Users that have this feature enabled, the email has to pass as clean originally in order to include the disclaimer. Any messages that were tagged in the subject per the stamp are not subject to a disclaimer, as we would have caught this as spam to begin with.

If any one of the above scenarios is true, the footer will not be added to the email. If a user receives an email they believe to be spam and the footer has not been appended for any one of these reasons, they can still report the mail as spam by using the FN/FP reporting process here:  Spam Reporting
