What packages is DLP included in?
Data Loss Prevention is included in these packages:
- Business
- Advanced
- Professional
How is Data Loss Prevention enabled?
- DLP is automatically enabled once on the appropriate package
How do I know Data Loss Prevention is enabled?
From the Administration> Account Management > Features page, if the Enable Data Loss Prevention (DLP) option is checked, it is on.
Also, if you attempt to create a new filter, you will notice these items:
- Smart Identifier Scan
- Dictionary Scan
Do the logs report on Scan information?
No, logs will only indicate which filter caught the message, but it will not identify the Smart Identifier or Dictionary term.
Can a user see the terms included in the dictionary?
No, this is not available for public view.

If it is important to know the items in the dictionary, please open a support ticket on the specific dictionary. Please reference a permalink to assist.
Does Proofpoint Essentials support custom dictionaries?
No, we do not at this time.
Is Data Loss Prevention available for customers on trial?
Yes, DLP can be enabled for trial customers. Once the trial is over, the created filters will be removed.
