Active Directory Error Codes 

When running a manual sync of Active Directory and set-up configuration there are sometimes error codes and issues that may occur. Below are some of them outlined and potential resolutions before contacting Technical Support.

Errors and Troubleshooting Steps:

Error - “Could not bind privileged user. Ldap Error Code  =-1 – Can’t contact LDAP server”

  1. Make sure all of Proofpoint Essential IP ranges are correctly whitelisted on your firewall: (Including the 148.xxx breakdown).
  2. Under ACTIVE DIRECTORY CONNECTION SETTINGS, ensure the Username is a Domain Admin for that domain.
  3. Ensure TLS is enabled. We use TLS version 1.2 or newer.

Error - LDAP Binding failed with the following error: 'Invalid Credentials' 

  1. Confirm that the username and password are correct.
  2. Ensure all of Proofpoint Essential IP ranges are correctly whitelisted on your firewall: (Including the 148.xxx breakdown).

Error: Failed to connect to DC (Connection refused). Error Code (111)

Ensure all of Proofpoint Essential IP ranges are correctly whitelisted on your firewall: (Including the 148.xxx breakdown).

Error: Failed to connect to DC (Connection timed out). Error Code (110)
