Proofpoint Essentials Archive Overview
Quick guide to all things archive.
Quick History:
Proofpoint offered our initial archive service in 2016. This was retired in June 2020 and is often referred to as 'Legacy Archive" or " Archive 1.0". The current version is referred to as "New Archive" or "Archive 2.0" or just Archive and is our only option since February 2019.
Features:
- Archive all internal and external inbound and outbound mail
- Search your own, specific users, or all mailboxes within the archive
- Manage retention and Legal holds
- Self Export individual messages or all messages from search results

Licensing:
Archive is only available as part of the Proofpoint Professional license package and can be enabled from the features page in the Essentials Portal.
Configuring:
Importing past messages:
Many customers would like to take existing mail and import it into our Archive. While we are working on a native method to capture past messages, customers can export in various ways from various vendors (email or other archive systems) and upload those to Proofpoint's Archive Import team.
